I applied for and received a $25000.00 line of credit mortgage in the state of NJ. I purchased the home with my own fiances. My husband signed a Deed granting me total ownership of the home by giving up his dower rights to the marital home which was duly recorded. After having aquired the loan over four months ago, the bank is now asking that my husband sign the loan documents. Why is that since I paid for the home with my own money and my husband by way of a recorded deed has given up any monarty interest in the home.

Welcome mothergoose,

It is quite surprising to me that the lender wants your husband to sign the mortgage docs now when the loan was originated 4 months back. When you have the transfer of his dower rights recorded, I don't think the lender should ask your husband to sign the mortgage docs. I would suggest you to contact the lender and ask him to clarify as to why he wants your husband to sign the deed.
