I will soon start divorce proceedings in NJ. The down payment for the house was a gift from my parents to me. The house deed and mortgage is in my name only. Can I keep the house free and clear? Does my husband have any claim to the house?

Welcome shrimp,

New Jersey is not a community property state. In that case, as your husband's name is not on the property, he won't be able to claim any interest in the property.
