I own my home for the past 33 year and my wife has been deceased for 20 years and I just re-married 2 year ago. I was wondering what legal issues would there be in removing my 1st wife name and now adding ny 2nd wife name?
I live in the state of New Jersey and I have 2 sons age 31 and 33 years old.

Hi barneypope,

Welcome to the forum.

You cannot remove your first wife's name from the deed on your own. If she quitclaims the property, then her name will be removed from the deed.

I think you should pay her off for her share of equity in the property and request her to quitclaim the property to you.

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry
