Do homeowners really benefit from government aid?

Shared by Niicss on Tue Jan 19, 2010 4:14 am

The banks have received government support during the real estate crisis. However, many people are of the opinion that this has deprived borrowers of lower mortgage rates. Experts are of the opinion that the mortgage rates for borrowers could have been much lower. If the mortgage rates had been lower, then it would have helped the homeowners in saving over the life of their loans. This would have helped in breathing more life into the housing market. It has been noted that the mortgage profits of the banks have come due to the government support that they have received due to the falling housing market. All this has helped mortgage rates to fall. However, most experts are of the opinion that they have been lowered further. It is really good to note that the government is spending a large sum to shore up the housing market. But it could have been better if it takes a closer look to know who is benefiting from the aid.
