Govt. announces a new task force to battle financial frauds

Shared by Jerry on Thu Nov 19, 2009 5:52 am

Hi all,

In an attempt to avoid another financial meltdown, the US Govt. has come up with the creation of a new task force to put a stop on the growing number of financial frauds. The task force, known as Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, will integrate more than 20 federal agencies like FTC, FBI, etc. and will be led by the Justice and the Treasury departments. The force will replace an existing corporate fraud task force that was set up way back in 2002.

The Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force aims to investigate and prosecute not only corporate frauds but also scams related to mortgage and securities. The force will not just bring those, responsible for the current economic situation, to book but will also try and nip emerging trends in frauds in the bud to make sure they do not bring about wide-spread damage to the economy in future.

Thanks,

Jerry

I feel that with the help of the Financial Fraud Task Force, the Obama administration is making it clear that they would act proactively to combat any type of financial fraud. It's better to take actions rather than waiting for the problem to reach its peak. If the task force is successful in handling the issue of frauds, it would create a more stable as well as a safer financial system thus stopping any kind of damage to the economy.
