I had a car repo which I co-signed for my sister. I checked my credti report and saw that I had a judgement againts me in NY for a repossession of my car. I thought that judgement must be filed in the state it occurred and thought they must notify me?

you do need to be notified, but notification is tricky. you didn't tell us the details about the "where" so i don't know why new york is an issue, but i gather your sister lives elsewhere, right?

remember, as a cosigner you were 100% liable for payments on that loan. when they repossessed it, that means the loan was in default. they have every right to obtain a judgment.
