My in-laws were divorced 4 years. My father inlaw just
passed away and we have found the deed to his house still
lists his ex-wife. In their divorce settlement she gave up
her rights to the house and was supposed to do a quit
claim deed. If she never followed through with this is the
house still legally hers? There was no will, and the
probate process has begun. Will a copy of the quit claim
deed ,if it was done, be on file somewhere? This is in NY.

Hi, welcome to the forum. There will be a copy, if it was filed but it sounds like it never was. That's gonna get messy quick, especially with probate. Run, don't walk, to an attorney right now to make sure your interests are protected.
