Married and spouse is in the market to purchase a home in NC. It is my understanding that the spouse must be included on the loan and deed in the state of NC. Is this a true statement ?

Hi NICHELLEROBINSON,

North Carolina is not a community property state. In that case, it is not mandatory for the spouse to be on the property deed and on the mortgage. Either of the spouses can take a mortgage on the property.

Take care.
