Hi,
I just found out that my husband is buying a house to fix and rent. He thought he could do this secretly, because he knows that I am very conservative when it comes to debt. I found out when a letter came from a title agency (which I thought was a sales pitch to purchase title insurance for our house-so I opened it) about the closing on the property he had a contract on. His take on this: "It's MY money".

Anyway...I learned today that I have to be at the closing, to sign some papers about dowers rights - tomorrow. I asked him to postpone the closing and get a copy of what I will be signing so that I can understand what I'm doing.

We live in Ohio.

Thanks in advance for any insight any of you can provide...

Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

It is difficult for me to say what papers you'll have to sign. But I will suggest you to read through the papers properly and check out what clauses are mentioned in it. If you feel something wrong, then do not sign the papers. You can even take the help of an attorney and he will help you in understanding the documents.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
