Hi
Me and my life partner (were gay) live in Columbus Ohio, we purchased a home 2 year's ago, the home went into his name only but we were told by the land and title agency we could do a Quit claim to add me to the deed of the house after 6 month's, we went in and paid them the fee's my partner signed the paper's. now they send us a letter saying we can not do this (the land and title agency) after a year and a half? Is this legal? We have refinanced the house in both our name's, next question since we are both on the loan could we still quit claim? I was not on the original loan, but they said I didn't have to be for my partner to add me. I'm confused about all of this. Please Help!

Hi Ronnie,

Welcome to the forum.

You partner can use a quitclaim deed to add you on the deed. You should ask them why cannot he quitclaim to add you.

But you cannot quitclaim as you are not the owner or your name is not on the deed.

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry

Why did they say that?

I am not aware of any limitations. What you did sounds proper to me.
