My mother had a quit claim deed prepared by legal aid and left her home to her adult children. She was advised by legal aid to have the deed filed after her death so that she may keep her home. Is the quit claim deed legal after her death or does it need to filed now. We live in Oklahoma.

Hi ROSE!

Welcome to forums!

The county recorder's office will not allow you to record or file the deed after your mother's death. You'll have to record the deed at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name. Your mother can include a life estate clause in the deed which will help her to stay in the property until death.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
