My husband bought our house last December 2008. We have now added me to the deed I am not on the loan. So can we claim the tax credit as first time buyers? We both own a home in our names but now we own a home in both of our names.

If, when your husband purchased the home in 2008, and at that time he had not owned a primary home for the prior three years, it would seem to me that he is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit that was in effect at that time.
The request for that tax credit should have been filed with the tax returns done in 2008 for the year 2007. If that was not done, should be able to submit an amended return.

Not eligible for the present tax credit .
