my pb, your missed payment would be reported in january for the first time. if you can make the payment somehow prior to the close of business on 12/31, you can avoid that report to the bureaus. if you cannot pay until january for that december payment, then the 30-day late will appear. it's not a life-threatening disease, so please don't treat it that way. i know it's not a nice thing (been there myself), but things could be worse. if you are able to pay that december payment in a brief period after the first of january, then do that. then if you can make the january payment in january, you'll be back in good graces. it'll take a while to make up for the 30-day late, but if you don't need to borrow for a while that's not so bad, anyway.
