Is it normal for a buyer to pay for two appraisals? The lender rejected the first appraisal because the appraiser was not licensed to service FHA loans, the appraiser was NOT notified thus wasn't given the chance to address the rejection and I paid for his services. The lender went ahead and hired its own appraiser whose fee was included at closing. So I paid for that appraiser as well but did not notice until months later after I got my house. Should I be fighting the lender for the fee I paid for the rejected appraisal?

you definitely shouldn't have had to pay twice for one acceptable appraisal. didn't the lender order the first appraisal? didn't they know they were hiring someone unlicensed? how stupid is this mortgage lender? you need to fight back, indeed, and ask for compensation immediately. keep in mind that if you don't get satisfaction, you can take this up with the supervisory agency that regulates this company.

Thank you George; appears the company simply neglected to perform its duties. It's sad that I had to pay for their mistakes. I will fight back- aggressively- and post the outcome...
