Hi ll_a,

Your financial institution will have to keep the mortgage documents unless you've paid off the dues in full and they have issued you a lien release certificate.

Take care

Hi Guest,

Don't you have the property deed for the inherited property? If you don't have the documents, then you should contact the county recorder's office and get the property deed.

In a will, I got the property and need to start making mortgage payments to keep it. I want to know if I can get the documets concerning the property which is where I am running into a problem. The propert is not paid in full so I assume I should not go to the county records office. Confused

Welcome Guest,

You will have to probate the will and get the property transferred in your name. Once the property is transferred in your name, you should contact your lender and refinance the loan in your name.
