I'm underwater in the value of my house vs the mortgage. I've decided that I can no longer throw good money into a money pit i cannot maintain. I have no late payments and my credit score is in the low 700's. I did file bankruptcy in 2006 due to a divorce. I completed a Commitment to Repay for the mortgage. Since that time, my mortgage got sold to another company. In pulling my credit report, I find that this new company shows my home as discharged in the bankruptcy. Compounding my dilemna is the fact that the current mortgage company does an auto payment from my checking account. I'm going to have difficulty in getting a rent initial/last/deposit saved up to move.

What are my options? I live in Kansas.

Hi maggie,

If you have reaffirmed the mortgage, then you will be liable for paying the mortgage in full. In such a situation, it shouldn't be written in your credit report as discharged. You should contact the lender and ask them to rectify the status.
