What are the legalities of an attorney filing a lien on someone's property without any notice and how does the property owner have the lien removed through legal means?

Hi debanglin,

The attorney cannot simply file a lien on someone's property. He will have to file a lawsuit in the court first. If the court gives a judgment in his favor, then he'll be able to place a lien on your property. You'll have to pay off the lien and get a lien release certificate in order to remove the lien from your property.
