My son has a private student loan on which I cosigned and I pay. If I prove I make the payments does it have to be counted in his debt to income ratio for the mortgage?

My son has a private student loan on which I cosigned and I pay. If I prove I make the payments does it have to be counted in his debt to income ratio for the mortgage?...I have made all the payments on this loan .

as long as you can provide proof like canceled checks the debt should not be included in his dti.

i agree, jenn...as long as you've got 12 months' proof, lenders (for the most part) will ignore that debt when calculating your son's ratios.
