My father co-signed on my duplex. Last year they filed bankruptcy. We keep my townhouse out of the bankruptcy. I am now in a tight situation where I can not afford it anymore. Can I still try to do a deed in lieu of forclosure if my property was previously kept out of the bankruptcy case.

Hi meekmystery,

As the property was not included in your bankruptcy filing, you can definitely apply for a deed in lieu of foreclosure and try to get rid of it. Your application for a deed in lieu of foreclosure will get accepted if you are delinquent on your mortgage payments. You can write a hardship letter and apply for a it.

Thanks
