Hello everyone. Need some help. What is a deed of lien & how does it work?

I want to apply for the free grants that the government has to offer but where do I find the resources? There are numerous sites that say they have this information but the charge is steep.

Any help you can give me will be most appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hi diamondmissy,

Welcome to forums.

I think you want to know about a deed in lieu. It's a process by which you surrender property to the lender when you're not able to carry out mortgage payments. Know how deed in lieu works.

For what purpose are you applying for free grants? Anyway, here's a resource that can help you know about and apply for government grants: http://www.grants.gov/ .

Thanks

I have checked out the site for grants.gov but they do not offer any grants for financial assistance. I am looking for grants that I can apply for to help me pay off the amount that my sister owes on my Mothers house & for me to obtain title. This house is currently in foreclosure & I am trying to work out a suitable arrangement with my sisters mortgage company but once this is done, I cannot make the payments by myself. My sister is supposedly to help for a short time but eventually I need to purchase the house & get her name off the title. My Mother struggled all her life in order to get this house & I am not going to let my sister just loose it. Any help that you can give me will be most appreciated. Thanks for all your help.

I guess you are looking for some kind of mortgage assistance programs, isn't it? if yes, then you may contact your State housing finance authority or the HUD for such programs.
