we bought a home joint ownership.married.divorced,live together.he left with out telling me one day.can i make him pay? can he make me sell? can i keep him off the property? i have paid the mortgage for 2 years. he paid utilities,and now doesnt want to pay that. we live in md

no lawyer,and he never showed up for any court dates.the house was never an issue.

"no lawyer" meaning you don't have one? there's no time like the present to get one. you don't live in a community property state, so nothing about that would apply.

in reality, unless you have a strong-arm handy, you can't "make" him pay what he chooses not to pay. the only way to take such action is to go to court (do i hear a lawyer calling?), and the only way in which he could force a sale of the home is to take you to court (ummm...lawyer, anyone?). barring him from the property would undoubtedly require that you hire one of those people i already mentioned (don't want to say it again).

You say you are divorced, but livign together and asking for hom to pay


Unless you had some legal agreement between two ofyou, then not sure what legal action you can take.

Unless court has some directive as a part of the divorace process
