Lein on mobile home...

Posted on: 04th Nov, 2010 12:31 pm
I have recently gone to court to talk to an attorney for a debt. It is a debt from a old landlord that was sent to a creditor. The debt was from 7 years ago. Its for 1,439.41. When i spoke with the lawyer he informed me that he intended on putting a lein on my mobile home since he could not garnish my wages since I am self employed. I work from my home. I went to a bancruptcy attorney to talk about filing they informed me that I would have nothing to worry about because there is a value of around 3,000 in personal property that they can not touch. I have just recieved a varified motion for procedings supplemental and order. I am worried that they can take my home or car. It has been over 7 yrs. Can they take my home or car? Is the statue of limitations over?
Hi tameka!

Welcome to forums!

You will have to check out the statute of limitations (SOL) as per your state laws. If the SOL is passed, then the creditor cannot take any actions against you.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
