Lenders generally do not consider the request for a deed in lieu if you are current on your payments. However, if you are facing issues in paying off the mortgage dues, you can contact the lender and inform him about it. Check out if he can provide you with some options. You can even try to negotiate with the lender about the deed in lieu. However, I doubt whether he will agree to it.
