i would imagine they can, since your dad undoubtedly benefited from the medicaid. your best bet, for legal questions, is to ask an attorney, though. _________________ George M. Akerley

Yes. Medicaid (and MediCal for Californians) can recover the amount they've provided for care. The best resource (in Laymans terms) to understand how it works is available in these two books from Nolo Law:
