Why do I need my partners signature for the loan modification if he is not on the mortgage? He is on the deed but not on the mortgage

Welcome crawas,

As far as I know, the lender will want both the partners to sign the loan modification documents in order to modify their loans. It is quite strange that your lender wants your partner to sign the docs though his name is not mentioned on the loan docs.

I dont know why either.....my partner was required to be present at the closing also even though they are not on the loan itself but only on the deed....
