caligirl0812 Guest	Posted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:37 pm    Post subject: How Do I get my name off mortgage Like 0 Dislike 0 My ex and I have been divorced now for two years and he has yet to refinance to get my name off of the mortgage. Last time I called the bank he was 6 months behind on paying the mortgage. It's really ruining my credit and I need my name off. Is there anything I can do? I live out of state of the condo and not sure if this is something where I should hire an attorney to get this fixed? _________________ Need help choosing the right loan? You can remove your name from the mortgage only if your ex can refinance or assume the mortgage in his name. You may contact an attorney and check out what steps you need to take in order to ask your ex to refinance the loan. Feel free to ask if you've further queries. Sussane

Your former husband, being 6 months delinquent now, is not going to be able to refinance the mortgage. No lender is going to look favorably on such a request based on that delinquency. His likelihood of even obtaining a modification is quite slim, inasmuch as you remain obligated on the loan in question. You can seek legal counsel, but be certain you do so with an initial free consultation so as to not waste your precious money. _________________ George M.
