Hired a roofer to put a new roof on. He put it on incorrectly. Per the shingle specifications there should be no nails showing. On our roof there are widespread nails showing. The shingle company recommends to replace the entire roof. We want to know what our rights are? Do we ask the same company that did it wrong to do it over again correctly? We have not signed a contract with them and we have not given them any money thus far. If he will not put a new roof on what are our rights? Can he put a lien on our house?

Hi ereilly!

Welcome to forums!

As you've not signed any contract with the company, I think they will not be able to place a lien on the property if you do not pay them the dues. You can ask them to replace the entire thing. You may inform them that if they do not do it correctly you may not clear their dues.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
