my husband and i paid a reverse mortgage on my dads house after he passed away, we are now living in the house, we had an agreement with the rest of the owners, we will pay insurance, taxes, utilities, and any wear and tear on the house, nothing major like roof, plumbing, etc., we also agreed to stay five years but within that time if we wanted to leave early we needed to give 6 months notice so we would be able to figure out how to pay us back for the reverse mortgage we paid, also if we wanted to stay another five years we needed to get another vote to do so. there was a disagreement with one of my brothers, and my husband wanted to leave early, certain sibilings are not wanting to pay us back, and the notary lost or was robbed of all her things and our contract was in there, she says she had a police report #, we never got it, she is my neices friend, no family member talks to me no more, now we are in the process of a partition action. how long will this take before we get our money?

Hi gmr,

The time period taken to complete a partition lawsuit may vary depending upon the case. Your attorney will be the best to help you know the exact time period taken to complete the whole process in your state.

Take care.
