Do I owe taxes on a property sold since it was never brought up at closing?

We sold property at auction in WI. In that state, they collect their property taxes for 2011 in 2012. Weird, but true. Since we sold our property in Feb. 2011, we owe 2 month's of taxes. It was never collected or brought up at the closing. Are we liable for the tax for that period or is the buyer? My attorney is of no help. And yes, we had an attorney represent us. The tax dept. said they send the bill out for 2011 in Dec. I don't want to wait that long to find out I owe the money for those 2 month's in 2011 that we owned the property.
Do we owe it or does the new owner?
Hi mycatieg!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I can understand, you will be liable for the taxes of those two months.

Why not ask the taxation authority?
