How soon can I purchase a home after a Deed In Lieu Of Foreclosure?

Posted on: 20th Jun, 2009 06:17 am
My husband & I had to file a chapter 13 back in April of 2008. Included in that was the surrender of our home. We moved out back in April of 2008 and have been since renting. It is now June 2009 and we have just received an agreement thru our atty for a deed in lieu. How long after this can we move forward and purchase another home?
the moment you pay all the property interest to your lender.so this is one of the best choice instead of going for BK, foreclosure and short sell.

Hi xhalin,

You'll have to wait for 2-3 years after deed in lieu in order to get a mortgage. Meanwhile you can take steps to improve your credit score which will help you in getting the loan easily. Check out some simple steps to improve your credit score from the given page:
