Me and my husband moved our paid for home on his stepdad's property 2 years ago...He gave us signed permission to place our home there...They came up on hard times recently and come to find out they haven't made a land payment since we moved our home here.. So we tried contacting the person who he is purchasing the land from to make some sort of arrangments for payment ...This guy and the stepfather are thick as thieves...He will not work with us we offered to make payments for the land we are living on...He says he won't accept it that we need to make a payment and the stepfather needs to make a payment to make up for the arrears.. Something is very shady about this whole deal ...Plus the stepfather will not give us anything in writing saying that when the land is paid for or when he expires the land is ours what can i do to keep from losing everything i have? Legally is there anything I can do?

Hi samiebest,

You and your husband will have to ask the step-dad to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the land to you. Then you can directly deal with the owner of the land and pay off his dues. This will help you in saving the property.

Thanks
