My husband and I just got approved for a home loan. Because we had problems before with an outstanding tax lien I asked the lender if he saw the lien on the credit report. He said he thought if had been satisfied and even I know if it had it would have been listed as satisfied in the file. He said the lender will not approve the loan now. He did say he would go to his underwriter and see what he could do. With all the installment payments and the tax credit the loan would be paid off this year, what are our chances of receiving financing?

Hi ReidPlus,

Once you clear off the tax lien, I don't think it would be difficult for you to get a mortgage. However, getting a mortgage will also depend upon your credit score. If you have a credit score of around 720-740, getting a mortgage won't be difficult.
