My father in law passed away in 1979 but did not have a will now my mother in law wants to leave us the house because she is now very ill as well, but there is one other sibling who is being very difficult. the deed estate is in all three of their names .. the mom the son and the daughter.
what should we do? Even mom doesnt want her to get the house! Sure would appreciate some advice please, please help mom isnt doing so well.

Hi Guest,

Your mother-in-law can use a quitclaim deed and transfer her share of the property to you and your partner. As far as the other sibling is concerned, unless, he/she signs the deed, you can remove him/her from the deed. You can offer him/her a certain sum of money and ask him/her to transfer the property to you and your partner.
