I have filed bankruptcy chapter 7 since 1-2-2008 and is approved by the courts. Recently I am trying to purchase a home and was denied because I found out that my name is still on the property title in which I surrendered and filed for chapter 7 on that property. What should I do to eliminate my name from the tiltle? can the bank retro the time of date based on the time filed for bankruptcy?

Hi frank,

You should ask the lender to sell off the property asap or else you won't be able to remove your name from the property deed. Unless your name is removed from the property deed, it will be difficult for you to buy a new property and get a mortgage for it.

Thanks
