I am separated from my husband whom is living in NC, and I am now living in FL. The house has been on the market for @6 months now, during the time the property is listed for sale we receive a modification on the mortgage. now that we are separated, he wants me to sign a quit claim deed to give him the home so he can redo the modification with just his income. Do you recommend quit claim deed while separated? Oh and by the way we now have an offer on the home which he is dragging his feet on signing the paperwork to send in for acceptance/rejection from the bank.

Hi Tracy,

If you quitclaim the property to your husband, you won't remain the owner of the property any more. If you are fine with it, then you can go ahead and transfer the property.

Thanks
