My Husband and I recenty moved into the home of his mom the deed was orginally in my husband's name and he signed it over to her so that habitat for humanity could buid her a new home on the land she died this jyear and we are living in the home and I wanted to know if all we have is a letter showing where in the divorce my father-in-law and mother-in-law agreed to deed him the land. What do we do!

Hi Ms Till,

If your husband is the sole heir to the property, then he will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in his name. He won't require any letter from your father-in-law in this regard. He can also contact a real estate attorney and get further information in this regard.
