my father passed away in 1996 it was in his name & my nieces name. now she wants to sell in fact it is inescrow, now here's my question, I hd to sigh papers that i was the last living heir for her to sell the property, the property sells for $250.000, she says i will only get maybe 40.000,00 of that money, is that correct ? the house she is in sells for 483,000.00. where does the 250,000.00 come from? does it come from the sell price of the house ? i signed some papers stating that i was the last living heir. what will happen?

Hi mscamella,

Your father had equal share in the property. So, as a heir, you should get half the amount of the sale price. You should contact an attorney and check out what he has to say in this regard. He will better guide you in this matter.

Thanks
