my live in partner gave a truck back because he could no longer afford it or drive it due to illness,the sold the vehicle,but did not get what tey wanted for it,now they are threatning to put alien on our home to collect the difference,can they place a lien on the home when it is jointly owned,although we are nor married and only he signed for the loan. i have nothing to do with the vehicle,but half of home is mine and iam not responsible for his debt.

Hi carla,

If the lender can get a judgment from the court, then he will be able to place a lien on the jointly owned property. It will be better if your partner could pay off the deficient balance resulting from the sale of the truck in order to avoid the lien.
