I have a 39 year old disabled son that I live with, he is on medicaid/medicare.He has a home that he is still paying mortgage on and wants to put my name on the deed. I am 62 years old female. Can this be accomplished by quit claim, or life estate deed or joint tenants with rights of survivorship. I would like to be able to
continue living in the home if ever something should happened to him.
Please advise on what should be done. We have already contacted the mortgage company on questions about adding my name to the deed, and they asked that we send the new deed to them.

Hi emac,

As you want to continue living in the property, a quitclaim deed with "joint tenants with rights of survivorship" will be a good option. However, as this includes the issue of Medicaid as well, you should contact a real estate attorney based in your state and discuss the matter with him before taking any further steps.

Thanks
