My fiancee wants to have his mother transfer his condo into my name. What is the easiest way to do this. The condo is currently in her name. We live in Florida

a quit claim deed ought to be sufficient. but...is there a mortgage on the condo? that makes it complicated in the overall scheme of things.

Hi southco,

I agree with what George has said. The mother can sign a quitclaim deed in order to transfer the property. However, if there's a mortgage on the property, then you'll have to refinance the mortgage in your name so that she doesn't remain liable for the mortgage dues. As far as warranty deed is concerned, she can use it only of the property is free and clear.
