I'm selling a house for the first time, how long can I expect the legal side, conveyancing, to take and what does the process involve?

Hi Shiplu,

Welcome to Mortgage fit,

Conveyancing stands for exchanging of documents between buyer and seller. In this process generally three attorneys are involved, one each to represent buyer, seller and mortgage holder.

This process may vary from few days to 10-12 weeks.Lot more things depend on the legal complexities, clear title, financial issues.

If all the issues are clear with documentation the process will be completed within few days.

Feel free to ask any further query if you have.........

DIPA

Thanks DIPA, I've been doing a bit of research and it's starting to make a bit more sense. There was a good breakdown of the conveyancing process on a website I found... Now just to search around and find a good one!
