My parents are purchasing a home with additional acreage that my siblings and I are considering building on. We have been told by a number of builders that we could use the property to get 0 down financing. Can my parents deed acreage to us without total payment on their mortgage?

Hi Guest,

Your parents cannot deed the acreage to you in case it has been used as security for their home loan. They will have to pay off the mortgage in full before they can transfer the acreage to you. However, if the additional acreage is not part of the collateral used for the loan, it will not be a problem for your parents to deed it you and your siblings.
