Hi! My father deeded his home to myself and siblings last year with the right to life in the home until his death. At what point in time do I and my siblings have to claim the property: the year it was deeded or once the grantor is deceased?

Hi Cindi,

Once the grantor is deceased, the life estate clause will become null and void. Thus, the property would be transferred to you and the other heirs of the property once your father is deceased.

Thanks
