can my ex partner tranfer the deeds of the house to my name as i have put 63.000 in to the property...i have had a trust of deeds drawn up on the amount i have put in the property but now we have split up. i dont want to loose the house but i can not get a mortage,i was wondering if i pay the mortage and he transfer the deeds to my name then he can not sell the property and i will also know the mortage is being paid.

Hi stalbot,

You can ask your partner to transfer the property to you with a quitclaim deed. Then you can refinance the mortgage in your name and pay it off. This will help you to save your property and the property will remain in your name.
