Hi , i am bidding for a land lot on ebay and seller is giving a General Deed. Seller is a trustee for the land .Is the General Deed the same as a General Warranty Deed? The lot is in Pennsylvania. Thanks for your help and advise....

Hi esther,

As far as I know, a general deed is same as the general warranty deed. In fact, a warranty deed is of 2 types, namely a general warranty deed and a special or limited warranty deed. A general warranty deed is the safest way of transferring property title. The grantor here guarantees that he is transferring the property in good faith and will defend the grantee in case of any defect in title. Importantly, unlike a special warranty deed, a general deed makes sure that the grantor guarantees the title in good faith from the beginning of time, not just for the time he held the title.
