I have a long time friend that is giving me a house for $8,000. I dont have the money though. She is willing to do a grant deed sign it over to me and then make payments to her for however as long it takes. Does that work? should i use a grant deed?

The grant deed will make you the owner, if provided you are the sole person to be named in the deed and there are no other parties on title. You can set it up with the deed and make a note between the seller and you for the 8K owed. Good luck

Hi Caylumo!

Welcome to forums!

I agree with what Chris has said. If your friend signs a grant deed and transfers the property to you, then you will be considered as the owner of the property. You and your friend can sign a separate agreement regarding the money mentioning the required terms and conditions. You and your friend can contact an attorney and he might help you with the agreement.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
