My father has a life estate in a home that he shared with my mother who died five years ago. Is my father responsible for all or any of the real estate taxes and/or major improvements/repairs over $500?

Hi cmf!

Welcome to forums!

It is not mandatory for him to pay for the taxes or home improvements. However, if he wishes, he may contribute a certain amount towards home improvement and taxes.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
