My parents have both passed away but before they did we (my brothers and I) had them put my sisters name on the title to their home and property. We did this because we all own homes already and she was the one living with them taking care of them. We did not wish to recieve any compensation for the house. Now that dad has passed she is having problems taking dads name off and getting the house in her own name. What can she do? Thank you for any help....Jefferson County, Missouri

Welcome Leonard,

Your sister can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name. This will make her the owner of the property.

And if that doesn't work, it'd do her some good to seek out a local attorney to assist.

You did not mention if there was a loan against the property. That can be another hurdle.
