I, with my wife[now ex] bought a property. After the divorce we kept shared interest with the agreement she would pay 1/2 morgage payments.
She remarried after moving to Md. but she only made one [1] payment in two yrs. Then Per an agreement reached, She Quit Claimed the property to me. which went thru atty, recorders ,and title And I have a deed in my name. Now that I want to Build on the property. apayoff on the property is required. A Title company is now saying her [new] husband has Dower rights to my property?ANY Thoughts.

Hi edwardhall!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know, the wife's dower rights would end if she is guilty party in a divorce or if the marriage is annulled. In such a situation, I don't think the new husband can claim dower rights to that property. However, it would be a better option to consult an attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
