When the mortgage papers were signed, the lender was given the right to foreclose on the house, if the loan is not paid off in full. If the terms of the mortgage agreement are not met, the lender can pursue foreclosure. Thus, the lender will foreclose on the house if your aunt had stopped paying the mortgage.
